The third season began with the team going to Arizona, where a killer is targeting women at a small college. When the team reaches there the first thing that they do is shut down the college and after that they start their investigations and also arrest a suspect based on their investigation. But soon afterwards another murder takes place and the team is forced to think what went wrong in their investigations, making them doubt their abilities. The team will now have to begin their investigation from the beginning. In the next episode, the BAU must investigate a case, that is also one of the most difficult cases, but the only problem is that Gideon is missing and Hotch and Prentiss are not in the team at the moment.
The remaining agents have a chance to prove themselves but only if they are able to find the serial killer in Milwaukee who abducts women from public places with the help of his son. Will the team be successful in tracing the killer? In the next episode, for the next investigation the team travels to Portland, where they are called in by the local services, who need their support in finding out who is behind the sudden disappearances of people who are new to the city and also do not enjoy a very good social position. Who is it that is after the lives of these innocent people?
After investigations all fingers point towards a psychiatrist who may be using his patients’ worst fears to murder them. In the next episode, the BAU goes to Denver in order to investigate a case where the killer gets inside the homes and ultimately kills the entire families. The BAU team investigates the case and identifies the killers as the one who has been abused while in foster care. In the next episode, a girl disappears from a shopping mall. Both local authorities and the BAU are working on the case, in order to get her back as early as possible. The team is suspecting a serial killer and is also looking for one, but when further investigations take place the team finds out that it is family who is responsible for the girl’s disappearance. In the next episode, it’s Halloween but the team is still working and the team will have to travel to Dallas for the next case.
The moment they reach Dallas they begin their search for the killer who scares his victims with “missing” flyers on which he displays the photographs of his next victims and cuts off their faces. The team must find the killer before he targets his next victim. In the next episode, the BAU team is called to investigate a case which involves the kidnapping and murder of three women and a man obsessed with feudalism. But soon afterwards, another woman disappears and the team starts looking for a man who has apparently assumed the identity of his partner who committed suicide.
